Explain Everything - show what you have learnt this week about...

In reading this week the Kiwikiwi and Karaka reading groups have been reading non-fiction texts about spiders, insects and living dinosaurs.

We have explored the texts to ask and answer questions about these creatures and the children chose to share their learning using Explain Everything.

We shared them today and have given feedback to each other about what worked well how we could improve them next time.

We'd love to know what you think too.

  1. Hi Kiwikiwi and Karaka Reading Groups! I came on to visit Kotuku's blog and I was so excited to see all the different work that you have done and all the information that you have posted about the different creepy crawlies and dinosaurs you have been reading about this week! I have to admit, I shivered looking at some of the pictures of the spiders!! Their big legs sometimes freak me out a little bit!
I would love to see or hear some of the feedback that you got given about your work from each other.. maybe you could ask your teachers if they could record your voices next time and you could share this with me or in another blog post! I was thinking about what my favourite animal was out of the ones in this blog post and it would have to be a ladybird.. they are so precious and beautiful! I love their red with black spots, have you ever seen a different coloured ladybird? I think they exist!

    1. Hi Hayley and Hunter
Did you know the stinger is at the bottom of the bee? Bee's only sting when they are scared.

  3. Hi Liyahn,
I like the picture of the spider because it is very realistic! Next time you could write how many eyes they have. What are spiders favourite insect to eat?

  4. Hi Nathan,
We are from Hornby Primary School - Room 1.
We like the pictures of the bees and the honey. We also like the arrows you have used.
Next time you could make a video about it.
Did you take the photo yourself? When did you make this?

    1. Hi Room 1 from Hornby Primary School
I made this a couple of weeks ago during reading time. Yes I did. It is a photo from the book which is called Amazing Insects and Spiders.

  5. Hello, we are Te Muhuri 1 from Yaldhurst Model School.
We looked at Nathan, Mercedes and Liyahn's work.
We like that you have worked on this really hard. We like the information that Nathan told us. We want to know what the stuff that looks like bubbles is?
We also like how Liyahn added a spider to his work - we want to know what kind of spider is it?
We like the design of Mercedes work. What is the bug that is a dark green colour?
We hope you reply to us!

To support my learning I ask you to comment as follows:
1. Something positive - something you like about what I have shared.
2. Thoughtful - A sentence to let us know you actually read/watched or listened to what I had to say
3. Something thoughtful - how have you connected with my learning? Give me some ideas for next time or ask me a question.
